Also known as Livingstone Airfield, 34 Mile Drome or 34 Mile. Some wartime references incorrectly spelled the location as "Livingston Field" (without the "e"). To the east is the Stuart Highway and to the west is the Stuart Rail Road. To the north was Hughes Field (30 Mile). Wartime History This aircraft was used by Allied fighter aircraft during the defense of Darwin. During 1942, the 49th Fighter Group (49th FG) main camp in Australia was located on the Humpty Doo cattle ranch property and the personnel were dubbed the "Boys of Humpty Doo" or simply "Humpty Doo". Naming Renamed renamed "Livingstone Field" in honor of P-40E Warhawk 41-24873 piloted by Lt. John Livingstone who crashed on take off and was killed on April 4, 1942.
