Background
8th Service Group (8th SrG) was part of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). During 1942 sent overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) and assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF). On July 30, 1942 arrives 7 Mile Drome near Port Moresby. During 1944, assigned to the Far East Air Force - Combat Replacement Training Center (FEAF-CRTC).

On January 20, 1945 lost is A-20G Havoc 43-21622 pilot 2nd Lt. Alfred J. Hamwey (MIA) on a strike mission against Cape Wom near Wewak and went Missing In Action (MIA).

On February 9, 1945 lost is A-20G "Shag On" 43-9134 pilot 2nd Lt William N. Sleeth (MIA) on a strike mission against eastern Muschu Island and crashed went Missing In Action (MIA).

On April 27, 1945 lost is A-20G Havoc 43-21390 pilot 2nd Lt. Ivan F. Brooks (rescued) ditched into Nightingale Bay.
