Background
On March 5, 1941 the 132nd Infantry Regiment (132d Inf Reg) was inducted into Federal service in Chicago, Illinois as part of the 33rd Infantry Division (33rd ID). Motto "Semper Paratus" Latin meaning Ever Ready.
Wartime History
On January 14, 1942 assigned to Task Force 6814 and three days later moved by train to New York then embarked aboard ship to Australia arriving February 27, 1942. On March 6, 1942 departs for New Caledonia and later in the month assigned to the newly formed 23rd Infantry Division (23rd ID) "Americal Division".
On December 8, 1942 arrives on Guadalcanal. On December 12, 1942 the 1st Battalion arrives on Guadalcanal.
