Wartime History Likely, sedan car was captured by the Japanese in Singapore and transported to Gona for use as a staff vehicle. In early December 1942 during the Battle of Gona, captured by the Australian Army and used as an ambulance. On December 16, 1942 photographed by George Silk / LIFE Magazine with a wounded soldiers on stretchers loaded intp the rear. Afterwards, abandoned in a dump area near Buna. Wreckage This sedan car remains in situ in a dump area near Buna. Dale McCarthy adds: "This car was on the other side of Buna and the tank [M3 Stuart 2575] was more or less two feet away from it."
