Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi or Nakajima. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 0 Carrier Fighter / A6M2 Model 21 manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). No known markings. This Zero ditched into Gizo Harbor off Gizo on Ghizo Island. Wreckage This Zero is submerged at a depth of 30' / 10m just off the main market at Gizo facing to the east. The nose, cockpit, and wings are intact. The empennage is lying upside down behind the wreckage, with the tail hook slot facing upwards. The instrument panel, machine guns and cannons have been removed. Contribute
