Aircraft History Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2208. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-17E Flying Fortress serial number 41-2397. Ferried to Hickam Field on Oahu. Wartime History Assigned to the 7th Air Force (7th AF), 11th Bombardment Group (11th BG), 431st Bombardment Squadron (431st BS). Later, assigned to the 26th Bombardment Squadron (26th BS). Nicknamed "Joe Bftsplk". Sometime after December 7, 1941, painted in the Hawaiian Air Depot (HAD) three color camouflage scheme consisting of dark green, olive drab and tan upper surfaces with standard gray lower surfaces. This B-17 was officially written off on October 31, 1944. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
