Aircraft History
Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2448. On March 3, 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-17E Flying Fortress serial number 41-2637 and the same day flown to Lowry Field. On April 4, 1942 flown to Boise and afterwards to Hickam Field.

Wartime History
On April 18, 1942 assigned to the 19th Bombardment Group (19th BG) to the 28th Bombardment Squadron (28th BS) or 93rd Bombardment Squadron (93rd BS).

During June 1943 transferred to the 43rd Bombardment Group (43rd BG), 63rd Bombardment Squadron (63rd BS) until September 1943. Twin .50 caliber machine guns were added to the nose for increased firepower.

On the right side of the nose was nicknamed "Gone Forever" (in single quotes) with the nose art of a reclining nude woman. Later, "Ready Betty" was added below the artwork. On the left side of the nose was another seated nude figure.

When the last B-17s were transferred out of the 63rd Bombardment Squadron, this bomber was flown back to the United States. On November 6, 1943 at Tyndall Airfield. On June 25, 1945 at Albuquerque then scrapped.
