Background
The 19th Bombardment Group (19th BG) was part of U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). Duriing World War II, operated in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) flying the B-17 Flying Fortress. Prewar, the 19th Bombardment Group (Heavy) was based in the Philippines. Attached was the 14th Bombardment Squadron (14th BS), 7th Bombardment Group (7th BG). During December 1941 part of the Far East Air Force (FEAF) in the Philippines. and after the start of the Pacific War, withdrew to Australia then redeployed to Java then withdrew again to Australia and redeployed to northern Queensland and New Guinea with the 5th Air Force (5th AF).
Afterwards, returned to the United States where the 19th Bomb Group was reformed and retrained on the B-29 Superfortress as part of the 20th Air Force (20th AF). On January 16, 1945 the entire group deployed to North Field on Guam and flying strategic bombing missions against Japan until the end of the Pacific War.
Headquarters Squadron (HQ)
The Headquarters Squadron for the 19th Bombardment Group (19th BG). On December 24, 1941 withdraws to Batchelor Field near Darwin in Australia. On December 30, 1941 transfer from Batchelor Field to Singosari Airfield on Java.
38th Reconnaissance Squadron (38th RS)
On
September 1, 1936 attached to the 19th Bombardment Group (19th BG) B-17 ferry flight arrives during Pearl Harbor attack.
14th Bombardment Squadron (14th BS)
On December 2, 1941 the 14th Bombardment Squadron (14th BS) was attached to the 19th Bombardment Group (19th BG).
28th Bombardment Squadron (28th BS)
The 28th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy).
30th Bombardment Squadron (30th BS)
The

93nd Bombardment Squadron (93nd BS)

40th Reconnaissance Squadron (40th RS)
On March 14, 1942 established by the War Department. On April 22, 1942 redesignated 435th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy).
435th Bombardment Squadron (435th BS) "Kangaroo Squadron"
On April 22, 1942 the 40th Reconnaissance Squadron (40th RS) was redesignated as 435th Bombardment Squadron (435th BS).
