Background
Donald William Hoggan was born May 31, 1921 in Los Angeles County, California. He completed two years of college and was employed as a actor. On November 7, 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) at March Field an aviation cadet with serial number 19039386. He graduated flight school, earned his wings and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant with serial number O-661930 then sent overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).

Mission History
On January 8, 1943 co-pilot aboard B-17E 41-9234 on a bombing mission against a Japanese convoy in the Huon Gulf off Lae.
