Aircraft History Built by Consolidated. Constructors Number 3764. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24J-120-CO Liberator serial number 42-109968. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 90th Bombardment Group (90th BG), 400th Bombardment Squadron (400th BS). Nicknamed "Tuttle Money". The tail had the skull and crossed bombs motif in white. Above was "968" (last three digits of the serial number) in large white digits. On June 6, 1944 while parked at Wakde Airfield destroyed during the night during an air raid by two G4M Betty bombers. This B-24 burned and by the next morning, only the tail section remained.
