Aircraft History
Built by Consolidated at San Diego during March 5-17, 1943. Constructors Number 1601. First flight March 19, 1943. Delivered to the U. S. Army on March 22, 1943. Ferried overseas to Australia.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 380th Bombardment Group, 530th Bombardment Squadron. Nicknamed "The Red Ass". On the left side of the was nose art of a seated mule. Below the left side of the cockpit was a scoreboard with bomb markings indicating missions flown.

Mission History
Took off from Fenton Airfield on a bombing mission over Makassar. Over the target, hit by its own bomb explosion or shot down by anti-aircraft fire over Makassar in the Celebes.

The entire crew was officially declared dead on December 19, 1945. All are memorialized on the tablets of the missing at Manila American Cemetery.
