Constructors Number 100-23342. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25D-25 Mitchell serial number 42-87349. Ferried overseas via Hawaii to Australia. Wartime History Delivered to the Netherlands East Indies Air Force (NEIAF) where it was assigned serial number N5-162. Assigned to No. 18 Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. Mission History On June 23, 1944 one of four Mitchells from 18 Squadron (others were B-25 N5-163, B-25 N5-180 and B-25 N5-185) which took part in Operation "NEI 12", an offensive shipping sweep over islands northwest of the Kai Islands. This B-25 was hit by anti-aircraft fire and seen to crash into the sea and explode. Memorials The entire crew was officially declared dead the day of the mission. Clark is memorialized at Adelaide River War Cemetery on the Northern Territory Memorial, panel 9.
