Aircraft History Built by Martin in Baltimore, Maryland. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-26 Marauder 40-1547. Disassembled and shipped as cargo across the Pacific to Melbourne and reassembled at Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) then flown to Garbutt Field at Townsville. Wartime History On May 9, 1942 assigned to the 22nd Bombardment Group (22nd BG), 33rd Bombardment Squadron (33rd BS). Nicknamed "Bucket O' Bolts". Assigned to pilot Robinson with crew chief Majewski. On June 16, 1942 first combat mission with the squadron. This bomber flew at least ten combat missions with the squadron. During June 1943 transfered to the 19th Bombardment Squadron (19th BS) and striped to a bare aluminum finish with the "Silver Fleet" motif on the tail above the serial number. and striped to a bare aluminum finish. Nicknamed "Blondie's Demon" with the nose art of a bulldog with an aerial bomb is on the left side of the nose. Assigned to pilot Forrester and crew chief Clark. On the left side of the nose with "Smitty" on the nose and "Cisco" near the cockpit with a scoreboard of bomb markings indicating missions flown. The nose wheel hub has "Silver Fleet". On July 23, 1943 first mission with the squadron. This B-26 flew at least 43 more combat missions with the squadron. During January 1944 scrapped in Brisbane.
