Built by Boeing. Constructors Number 10758. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-29-70-BW Superfortress serial number 44-69926.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 20th Air Force (20th AF), 499th Bombardment Group (499th BG), 878th Bombardment Squadron (878th BS). No known nickname or nose art. When lost, engine and weapon serial numbers unknown.

Mission History
On May 14, 1945 (Mission 174) took off piloted by Lt. Col. Robert E. Haynes as one of 472 B-29s on a bombing mission against the urban area north of Nagoya. On the way to the target, this bomber ditched off Iwo Jima.

Rescue
American forces rescued ten of the crew. Two of the crew: Barnes and Vifquain were not found and were listed as Missing In Action (MIA).

Memorials
The two missing crew members were officially declared dead the day of the mission. Both are memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.
