Aircraft History Built by Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. Constructor Number 12547. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-29-90-BW Superfortress serial number 44-87744. On September 18, 1947 became part of the U.S. Air Force (USAF). Modified into a WB-29 weather reconnaissance aircraft to conduct weather monitoring missions then assigned to the 58th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (58th WRS). Non known nickname, nose art or markings. On March 9, 1951 took off piloted by Richard H. McGibney this WB-29 suffered an accident at Eielson AFB. Afterwards, repaired and returned to duty. On April 2, 1952 took off piloted by Fred B. Masterson during the flight, this WB-29 suffered two inboard engine failures and force landed at Moses Point in Alaska, roughly 100 miles from Nome. Afterwards, written off. Fate Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
