Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Construction Number 11790. On April 30, 1943 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47A-DK Skytrain serial number 42-92034. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia arriving at Brisbane. Wartime History On July 14, 1943 assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF). No known nickname, nose art or markings. This C-47 operated in New Guinea. During late September 1943 and early October 1943, this C-47 was used to fly Australian Army personnel and cargo from Dobodura to Kaiapit Airfield. On September 24, 1943 photographed unloading a bulldozer at Kaiapit Airfield. On October 1, 1943 photographed embarking Australian Army soldiers bound for Kaiapit Airfield. On June 18, 1944 this C-47 was flown back across the Pacific to the United States. Postwar On June 19, 1946 to to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) and offered for sale. Purchased by Aerovias Contreras and registered in Mexico as XB-FEP and later XB-FUA. On May 19, 1951 registered to Wardell Hatch & Co - PP-CDO Servicos Aereos Cruzeiro do Sol nicknamed "Anhembi" and registered as NC67661. By March 14, 1972 the registration was canceled and in April 1974 the fuselage was reported to be at Rio. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
