Aircraft History
Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as C6N1 Model 11 Saiun (Myrt) manufacture number unknown (likely three digits).

Wartime History
Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). No known tail code or markings. This Myrt was abandoned at Moen No. 1 Airfield (Chuuk Airport) on Moen Island.

Wreckage
Until the early 2000s, remained in situ southwest of Moen No. 1 Airfield (Chuuk Airport) in a taro swamp.

Dick Williams reports:
"When I was there in 1969-70 she was still up on her gear. Clearly a Japanese plane because of the reddish primer, while US planes used zinc chromate."

In the early 2000's the Myrt was salvaged by a local and placed into storage on Moen Island. Later, shipped to the United States. During 2016 this Myrt was listed for sale on Barnstormers - Classified Nakajima C6N1-S Saiun"Myrt" (link removed). The wreckage photographed included the fuselage, engine, cowling, left and right landing gear and a portions of the wing and other pieces of the aircraft.

This Myrt was acquired by Nobuo Harada and shipped to Japan and became part of the Harada Collection (Kawaguchiko Car Museum) and will be restored to static condition.

Restoration
The Myrt began restoration removing the exterior skin. On August 1, 2023 unveiled to the public at the Harada Collection (Kawaguchiko Car Museum).

"Another rarity has recently been imported to the US from its Pacific Island resting place in the form of a relatively complete Nakajima CS6 Saiun “MYRT” three seat fast reconnaissance aircraft (photo top). Only one complete example of the is known to exist, this is a C6N1-S night-fighter variant armed with oblique firing 20 mm cannon and crewed by two, which resides in store with the NASM, Washington DC."
