References
USN Overseas Aircraft Loss List September 1943 lists this F4U as MIA with pilot Major Jones from VMF-215, take off from Guadalcanal and target Ballale on September 1, 1943. This is incorrect. There was no "Major Jones" lost from any squadron in this theater.
