Aircraft History Built by Junkers at Bernburg, Germany as Ju 52 g8e Werknummer J7493. During February 1942 this Junkers was to be assigned to the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) with code CK+QR but was never delivered. Wartime History During September 1942 registered in Finland as OH-LAO nicknamed "Waasa". During October 1942, leased to Lufthansa and registered in Germany as D-AEAC. This aircraft was reputed to be assigned to General Albert Kesselring for his private use until July 1944. In early May 1945 impounded in Sweden until May 8, 1945 when Germany surrendered. Postwar In November 1951 registered in Sweden as SE-BUD. During May 1955 one of three Ju-52s purchased by Gibbes Sepik Airways plus Ju 52 J7256 SE-BUE and Ju 52 J641375 SE-AYB. Afterwards, flown from Sweden to New Guinea. This Ju 52 was registered in Australia as VH-BUV and was used to fly cargo and passengers. On November 15, 1958 Gibbes Sepik Airways was sold to Mandated Airlines (MAL) but continued to operate as Gibbes Sepik Airways until April 1, 1960 fully absorbed into MAL and this plane was re-registered as VH-GSS. During 1960, broken up at Madang Airfield. References Other sources suggest parts or all of this plane were scrapped in Adelaide.
