Aircraft History
Built by Kawasaki. True serial number 2?2 (middle digit unknown). Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 99 Light Bomber Kyu Kyu Sohkei / Ki-48 Lily manufacture number 12?2 (second to last digit unconfirmed, likely 1242 or 1282).

Wartime History
Assigned to an unknown Sentai (Flying Regiment). No known markings or tail code. This Lily was damaged parked at Lakunai Airfield and abandoned on the southern side of the runway. Afterwards, the Japanese might have stripped the bomber for usable parts.

Wreckage
Until the early 1970s, this Lily remained in situ at Lakunai Airfield. The nose section was removed or missing. The right engine was still attached to the mount and the left engine broken off and fallen forward. The left wing was removed forward of the wing spar.

Charles Darby adds:
"In bad shape even back in 1963 when I first saw [this plane], and I wasn't even sure if they were Ki-21s or Ki-48s."

Justin Taylan visited the wreck in 2000:
"This wreck was slightly scrapped over the decades, but the main spar and pieces of wreckage survived the 1994 eruption."
