Aircraft History
Built by Kawasaki at Kagamigahara during July 1943. Uncoded serial number 256. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 3 Fighter / Ki-61-II Tony manufacture number 356. Armament configuration "Ko" with 2 x 12.7mm Ho-103 machine cannons in the nose and two 7.7 mm Type 89 machine guns in the wings.

Wartime History
Assigned to either the 68th Hiko Sentai (68th Flying Regiment) or 78th Hiko Sentai (78th Flying Regiment). No known markings. This Tony was abandoned at Hansa Bay, likely at Nubia Airfield (Hansa South).

Wreckage
On June 16, 1944 this aircraft was captured by the Australian Army. On June 24, 1944 surveyed by U.S. Army Technical Intelligence (TIAC) that noted the manufacture number as 356.
