Aircraft History Built by Kawasaki at Kagamigahara. Uncoded serial number unknown (three digits). Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 3 Fighter / Ki-61-Ia Tony manufacture number unknown (three digits). Likely, armament configuration "Ko" with two 12.7mm Ho-103 machine cannons in the nose and two 7.7 mm Type 89 machine guns in the wings. Wartime History Assigned to the 68th Sentai or 78th Sentai. No known markings. Mission History This aircraft took off on a mission and ditched or crashed into shallow water off Sup on southeast Muschu Island. Wreckage The aircraft is underwater on a sandy bottom. The wreckage includes the engine, cockpit and wing section. The propeller and hub are broken off and twisted to the side of the wreck.
