Aircraft History Built by Lockheed in Burbank. Constructors Number 2613. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-60A-5-LO Lodestar serial number 43-16453. Disassembled and shipped to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History In Australia assigned call sign VH-RAJ. On January 11, 1944 assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as Lodestar serial number A67-10. That same day, received by 3 Air Depot (3 AD) and assigned to No. 37 Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. On September 6, 1944 while taxing at Merauke Airfield the left undercarriage collapsed. On December 6, 1944 damaged again when a tire blew during landing, causing a ground looped. Repaired at Parafield Airfield and fitting of seats from Hudson A16-116. Afterwards, issued to 4 Comm Unit 30 Mar 1945. Transferred 1 Comm Unit 10 May 1945. To 7 AD for repairs, then storage June 12, 1945. Postwar On March 19, 1947 sold to Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and registered as VH-CAB. Afterwards to Trans Australian Airlines (TAA) as VH-TAY. Later, sold to the United States and converted to a Learstar I and registered as N24V, N179T, N1791, N298AR and N14WS. Registration canceled on June 14, 2012. Fate today unknown.
