Aircraft History Built by Canadian Vickers Limited in Montreal, Canada as model CL-1. Delivered to the U. S. Navy (USN) as PBV-1A Catalina bureau number 67858. Assigned to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as OA-10-CO Catalina serial number 43-47960. Ferried overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History Assigned to the 2nd Emergency Rescue Squadron (2nd ERS). Nicknamed "Snafu Snatchers". On the left side of the nose was the nickname "Snafu Snatchers" and nose art of an airmen in a life raft. On the right side of the fuselage is a large black rectangle with a scoreboard of missions flown and rescues. This Catalina operated in the in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) including Mindinao in the Philippines. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared. References Since July 1984, PBY-5A Catalina 46595 displayed at the National Museum of the United States Air Force (USAF Museum) as part of the World War II aircraft collection is painted in the markings of this Cataliana.
