Seversky P-35

List by Serial Number
P-35 displayed at USAF Museum

Background
In October 1940, a total of sixty Seversky/Republic P-35As acquired by the U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC). These aircraft were assigned serial numbers in the range of 41-17434 to 41-17493. From this group of sixty, fifty-seven were sent to the Philippines. Three were kept stateside as instructional airframes (17474-17476). I should point out that almost all internet sources state only 40 were sent to the Philippines and twelve were given to the Ecuadorian Air Force. This information is incorrect, there being no evidence of any such transfer of P-35As. I believe some P-35s were transferred in 1942, and someone a long time ago got confused between P-35/P-35A, and this information has been parroted again and again until it has become fact.
