Below the left side of the cockpit was a scoreboard with eight Japanese rising sun flags (2x4) indicating aerial victory claims. Below is "Pilot Capt. John S. Loisel" and "Crew Chief T/Sgt..." and below is the U.S. Army Air Force serial number stencil. In the distance is another parked P-38 Lightning and a truck or jeep. Beyond are trees and the horizon.
