Aircraft History Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank. Constructors Number 1193. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38H-1-LO Lightning serial number 42-66502. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 475th Fighter Group (475th FG) "Satan's Angels", 432nd Fighter Squadron (432nd FS) "Clover". Squadron Number 161 in white on the nose. Assigned to pilot Captain John S. Loisel. Nicknamed "Screamin' Kid" in block letters with a shadow plus the nose art of a cartoon figure wearing a suit of armor with the visor raised and holding a lance on its shoulder. Below the left side of the cockpit was a scoreboard with eight Japanese rising sun flags (2x4) indicating aerial victory claims. Below was "Pilot Capt. John S. Loisel" and "Crew Chief T/Sgt..." painted in white block letters above the serial number stencil. During 1943 operated from Port Moresby and Dobodura flying mission over New Guinea. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise written off.
