Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Constructors Number 28716. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40N-5-CU Warhawk serial number 42-104954. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF). No known markings, nickname or nose art. Wartime History This P-40 was abandoned at Dumpu Airfield. Wreckage Until 1974, the fuselage of this plane remained in situ. In 1974, recovered by Monty Armstrong on behalf of David Tallichet / Yesterday's Air Force (MARC). Afterwards, exported to Australia. Restoration During 1997-2002 owned by Ian Whitney and under restoration with Tom Wilson in Griffin, GA. Next, owned by Edwin Sedgman of Melbourne since 1999 who is continuing the restoration.
