Aircraft History Built by Consolidated Aircraft Corporation at San Diego. Constructors Number 116. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as PBY-5A Catalina bureau number 05028. Assigned to the Royal Air Force (RAF) as Catalina Mark Ib serial number FP216 but never delivered and was instead retained by the Navy. During 1945, assigned to NAS Pensacola to the Land Survival Training Center. Postwar In 1992, donated to the National Museum of Naval Aviation (NNAM) and restored. During 2002 the restored Catalina fuselage was put on display with the left side skin removed to allow acutaway view into the fuselage. Hanging above is PBY-5 Catalina 08317.
