Pilot Lt. T. H. Moorer (survived) Crashed February 19, 1942 Aircraft History Built by Consolidated at San Diego. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as PBY-5 Catalina Bureau Number 2306. Assigned to Patrol Wing 10 (Pat Wing 10) to Patrol Squadron 22 (VP-22). No known nickname or nose art. Mission History On February 19, 1942 took off from Darwin Harbor piloted by Lt. T. H. Moorer and during the Japanese attack against Darwin intercepted by A6M2 Zeros near Melville Island and was damaged and crashed near Bathurst Island to the north of Darwin. Rescue The crew was rescued by SS Florence and returned to duty.
