Aircraft History Built by Consolidated Aircraft Corporation in San Diego. Constructors Number 1339. Delivered to the Royal Air Force (RAF) as PBY-5 Catalina serial number JX237. Ferried across the Pacific via Fiji arriving May 21, 1943. Wartime History Assigned to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) to No. 6 Squadron with code Code XX-F. Duing 1945, operated from Halavo Seaplane Base. On June 12, 1945, this PBY was used to transport New Zealand Governor General, Sir Cyril Newell to Halavo Seaplane Base. Postwar At the end of the Pacific War, flown back to New Zealand. During 1951, declared surplus. In 1952 at Hobsonville Airfield sold for scrap and broken up.
