Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed as model 237-27-01 in Burbank. Constructors Number 237-5689. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as PV-1 Ventura bureau number 34799.

Wartime History
Assigned to Patrol Bombing Squadron 146 (VPB-146). No known nickname or nose art.

Mission History
On October 20, 1944 took off from Pitu Airfield on Morotai Island piloted by Lt(jg) William B. Taylor on a patrol mission and reportedly went missing between Morotai and the Moluccas Islands. When this aircraft failed to return the crew was officially declared Missing In Action (MIA).

Memorials
The entire crew was officially declared dead on October 21, 1945. Each crew member earned the Purple Heart, posthumously. The entire crew is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.

Delop also has a memorial marker at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, CA on the Coronita Lawn.

Layten also has a memorial marker at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL at plot 1 - Q18.
