Location Stock Route Airfield was located on the outskirts of Townsville. Also known as "Stockroute" or "Stockroute Field". This was a prewar cattle route road. Named Stock Route as it was the area cattle were mustered. Wartime History During February 1942, this stock route road was leveled and graded into an single 3,600' gravel surfaced runway, without any other facilities but was connected by a gravel road to Duckworth Street in Townsville.
