    Akeno Airfield (Akenogahara) Mie Prefecture Japan
Location
Lat 34° 31' 60N Long 136° 40' 19E  Akeno Airfield is located at an elevation of 20' above sea level to the north of Ise in Mie Prefecture in the Kansai Region of Honshū in Japan.

Construction
Single runway 4,950' x 2,640' was used as an Japanese Army Air Force and government landing field. This airfield had all facilities.

Wartime History
Used as a training field for Japanese Army Air Forc (JAAF). During 1943, students also had the opportunity to fly three captured P-40 Warhawks and a P-51B Mustang with the nickname "Evalina" on the nose (spelling unclear). Starting in late April 1945 attacked by U.S. aircraft including P-51D Mustangs until the middle of July 1945.

Today
Still in use today as Akeno Airport. Airport code: ICAO: RJOE. Used by the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) as a helicopter base.
