| Location Ishigaki Airfield is located at Ishigaki Town (Ishigaki City) on Ishigaki Jima in the in the Yaeyama Islands (Yaeyama Island Group) in the Sakishima Islands in Okinawa Prefecture of Japan. Construction Built during late 1942 or 1943 using Korean laborers. Wartime History Used by the Japanese until the end of the Pacific War. During April 1945 until the end of the Pacific War attacked by Allied fighters and bombers. American missions against Ishigaki Airfield May 27, 1945–June 24, 1945 Postwar In 1956 reopened as Ishigaki Airport and used as a civilian airport until 2013 when New Ishigaki Airport (Ishigaki Airport, Painushima Ishigaki Airport) opened and this airport was closed. Today Disused since 2013 and since then known as Old Ishigaki Airport. Contribute
