Location Lat 24° 46' 58N 125° 17' 4 Miyako Airfield is located at an elevation of 150' above sea level on the western side of Miyako Island in the Miyako Islands (Miyako Island Group) in Sakishima Islands of Okinawa Prefecture of Japan. Wartime History Built by the Japanese during the Pacific War for use as a military airfield. Starting in late 1944 attacked by Allied fighters and bombers until the end of the Pacific War. Occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan. Allied missions against Miyako October 13, 1944–July 31, 1945 Today Still in use today as Miyako Airport classified as a small airport.
