Location Lat 13° 29' 0N Long 144° 47' 46E Agana Airfield is located at Tamuning and Barrigada in the center of Guam Island in the Territory of Guam in the United States of America (USA). Also known as Tiyan Airfield for nearby Tiyan. Today known as Guam International Airport or Guam Airport. To the west is Agana. Construction After occupying Guam, the Japanese built Agana Airfield. In Japanese known as Guamu Dai Ni (Guam No. 2) using Korean and Guamian labor. Wartime History Used by Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as a military airfield for fighters and bombers. As of June 1, 1944, Japanese air strength at Agana Airfield consisted of 60 x P1Y1 Ginga (Frances) plus 100 Zeros and 10 J1N1 Irvings at Orote Airfield (Guam No. 1). Japanese units based at Agana 343 Kokutai (A6M5 Zeros) After captured by American forces, it became an American base, named for General Harmon, who was missing after a flight out of Hawaii. American units based at Agana 11th BG, 431st BS (B-24) MAG 21 (F4U) Orote 1945 Postwar After the Pacific War, used by the U.S. Navy (USN) as Naval Air Station Agana (NAS) Agana. Today Still in use today as "Guam Airport" or "Guam International Airport" as a civilian airport with two runways. The first is oriented 24L/06R measures 10,014' x 150' surfaced with asphalt. The second oriented 24R/06L measures 10,015' x 150' surfaced with Porous European Mix (PEM). Airport codes: FAA: GUM / IATA: GUM / ICAO: PGUM. Officially renamed "A. B.
