| Location Lat 13.6° N Long 144.8° E Agana is located on the western coast of Guam Island in the Territory of Guam in the Southern Mariana Island Group (Mariana Islands) in the Mariana Island Group (Mariana Islands) in the United States of America (USA). Also known as Hagatna or Hagåtña. Borders Agana Bay and Adelup Point. To the north is Saupon Point. Wartime History On December 10, 1941 at 4:00am Japanese Army 55th Infantry Corps "South Seas Detachment" begin landing at Dungcas Beach to the north of Agana. On July 21, 1944 at 8:29am the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) made an amphibious landing at Agana Bay west of Agana while the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade landed near Agat to the south. The landing came under fire from the Japanese defenses dug in on the high ground overlooking the beaches. War in the Pacific National Historical Park National Parks Service. Six memorial park on the island, including Adelup Park. Adelup Point During the Japanese occupation of Guam, Adelup Point was developed by the Japanese with fortifications built into the rock cliffs. A battery of large guns was emplaced at the point. After the recapture of the island by the United States, Commodore W. O. Hiltabidle, CEC USN, 5th Naval Construction Brigade, set up his command post at this location. Today, site of Adelup Park part of the War In The Pacific Historic Parks. Agana Airfield (Antonio B.
