Location The Territory of Guam is located in the Southern Mariana Islands in the Mariana Island Group (Mariana Islands) is part of Micronesia in the Central Pacific. Today, it is an unincorporated and organized territory of the United States of America (USA). Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. To the north borders the Northern Mariana Islands Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). To the southwest is Cocos Island. Borders the Philippine Sea to the west. Territory of Guam (Southern Mariana Islands) Guam Island occupied by the Japanese in December 1941. Liberated by U.S. forces beginning July 21, 1944. Cocos Island small island located to the southwest of Guam. Cabras Island located at the northern edge of Apra Harbor. Apra Harbor borders the western coast of Guam.
