Location Lat 16° 51' 10N Long 120° 22' 34E Luna Airfield is located on the beach about a half mile northwest of Luna in La Union Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Borders the South China Sea to the west. To the south is San Fernando. To the north is Vigan. Construction Built prewar as a civilian airfield located on the beach. Wartime History During early September 1945 after surrendering, General Tomoyuki Yamashita was transported from Baguio to Luna Airfield and flown aboard a U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) transport to Manila.
