Location Lat 10° 42' 47N 122° 32' 43E Mandurriao Airfield is located at an elevation of 27' above sea level to the south of Mandurriao (Mandurriaw) on Panay Island in Iloilo Province of the Western Visayas (Region VI) in the Philippines. To the southwest is Iloilo and to the south is the Iloilo River and beyond Oton Bay. Further to the northwest is Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara Airfield. Also known as Mandurriao Aerodrome. During 1945 known as "Law Airfield". Construction Built prewar by the U.S. Army as a single runway. Wartime History During 1942, occupied by the Japanese and used as a military airfield. Starting in early December 1944 targeted by American bombers. American missions against Mandurriao Airfield December 8, 1944–December 11, 1944 On March 19, 1945 a column from U.S. Army 40th Infantry Division, 185th Infantry Regiment seizes Mandurriao and Mandurriao Airfield without opposition. Afterwards, used by the Americans. Code named "Law" with the control tower code named "Onion". During 1945, the runway was 4200' x 100' with a 500' overrun at each end. The north-northeast was scheduled to be extended. The surface was soft after rainfall. Emergency flare pots were available for night landing within 10 minutes after notification to the control tower. Today Still in use today as Iloilo Airport, classified as a small airport. The single runway is oriented 20/02 measures 6,890' x 118' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: ICAO: RPVI IATA: ILO.
