Port Moresby Air Raid December 14, 1942
Japanese night bombing mission over Port Moresby (Raid #93)

On December 14, 1942 after midnight in the early morning hours with a first quarter moon, a Japanese bomber bombs Port Moresby without causing any damage.

At 14 Mile Drome (Schwimmer) pilot 2nd Lt. Richard I. Bong noted in his logbook "Experienced ack-ack shrapnel falling all around after bombing raid" from friendly anti-aircraft shells falling all around. This was the second air raid he experienced, the first was on November 24, 1942.
