Location Embi Airfield was loctated at Embi on the eastern end of the Dobodora nearest to Oro Bay. Today located in Oro Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Construction During 1943, the U.S. Army built four runways at this location: Embi No. 1, Embi No. 2, Embi No. 3 and Embi No. 4. It is unclear if North Embi Airfield (Dobodura No. 12) was one of these four runways that were part of Embi Airfield or an entirely different airfield. Wartime History During 1943-1945 used by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). Today Disused since the Pacific War. There are many horseshoe shaped gun emplacements around, clearly visible from the air. Frank Anderson recalls from 1970: "They were Phosgene gas bombs rusted and some were weeping, I reported them to the Australian army who destroyed them by blowing holes in them with what I took to be shaped charges as the holes were nearly square. They were also large 1,000 lbs bombs. There were also plenty of H.E. bombs in the area." C-47 Skytrain Abandoned at Embi Contribute
