CHINA-BURMA-INDIA (10th Air Force): B-17's pound Myitkyina Airfield for the second time, scoring direct hits on runways and several
buildings.
SOUTHWEST PACIFIC AREA (5th Air Force): B-17s, B-26s from 22nd BG bomb Rabaul. B-25s from 3rd BG bomb Lae. Force landed returning from the mission is B-25C 41-12497. Over Port Moresby, P-39 Airacobra pilot Brown collided with A6M2 pilot Oshima causing it to crash.
IJN: A6M2 Zeros from the Tainan Kokutai (Tainan Air Group) sweep Port Moresby. Over the target area, engaged by P-39 Airacobras from the 8th Fighter Group (8th FG), 36th Fighter Squadron (36th FS). Lost is A6M2 pilot Oshima (KIA).
