Location
Battery Wilson is the upper battery of the bow of Fort Drum on El Fraile Island inside Manila Bay in the Philippines. Forward towards the bow at a slightly lower elevation is Battery Marshall.

Construction
Built prior to the war. Emplaced two 14" M1909 guns built by Watervliet Arsenal in an enclosed casement turret. Named Battery Wilson. The guns are numbered from right to left if you are facing the target, No. 1 (right) and No. 2 (left).

Wartime History
During 1945, the No. 1 (right) gun was broken by a direct hit from high explosive 2,000 lbs bomb dropped by a 5th Air Force, 43rd Bombardment Group, 64th Bombardment Squadron B-24 Liberator.

Wreckage
At the end of the war, both the No. 1 (right) gun barrel and No. 2 (left) gun barrel were left elevated at 45° angles.

Until 1969, the broken off portion of No. 1 (right) gun barrel remained atop Fort Drum until it was scrapped.

Until the middle of 2006, the gun barrels of Battery Wilson remained in position. During 2007, both barrels collapsed due to corrosion and scrapping. Today, gun No. 1 is gone and only a small portion of the Gun. No. 2 remains protruding.
