Wartime History Delivered to the IJN (IJN) as 140mm Naval Gun Type 3 (1914) "Sea Coast Gun". This gun in an enclosed turret was and installed as secondary armament aboard Battleship Mutsu. Sinking History On June 8, 1943 this gun was aboard Battleship Mutsu when it accidentially exploded, capsized and sank off Hashirajima Island in Hiroshima Bay. Wreckage During 1963, this gun and turret were recovered from the Battleship Mutsu shipwreck. On June 8, 1981 relatives of those lost on the Mutsu donated this gun to the Yūshūkan (Yasukuni Museum) at Yasukuni Jinjia (Yasukuni Shrine). Contribute
