Gun History Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) as 75mm Type 88 anti-aircraft gun serial number 2582. Wartime History This gun was transported to New Guinea. Reportedly emplaced near Awar Airfield to provide anti-aircraft defense over the Hansa Bay area. Display During 1975, this gun is one of two transported from Awar Airfield to Bogia for PNG independence for displayed at the district government station. Today, it this gun is displayed outside the Koale Trading Company store. According to locals: "One time a Japanese veteran came to Bogia, and looked at the gun, he got very excited, and pointed to the '2582' [serial number] and said 'my gun'. He was very happy to see it."
