Location
Atka Island is located in the Andreanof Island Group (Andreanof Islands) in the Aleutian Island Chain (Aleutian Islands) in Alaska in the United States. Borders Nazan Bay and Believing Bay.

Wartime History
During the Paciic War, Atka Island was developed into a seaplane base and was bombed by Japanese aircraft.

American and Japanese missions against Atka
June 11, 1942–December 10, 1942

Nazan Bay
Borders Atka Island during June to September 1942 used by the U.S. Navy (USN) as an advanced seaplane base supported by seaplane tenders for PBY Catalina anti-shipping searches and bombing missions against Kiska.

Believing Bay
Borders the western end of Atka Island.
