Location
Buldir Island is a small island in the western in the Aleutian Island Chain (Aleutian Islands) in Alaska in the United States. Also known as Buldyr Island. Located midway between the Near Island Group (Near Islands) and Attu Island to the west and Rat Island and Kiska Island to the the east.

Wartime History
Starting in the middle of August 1942, American aircraft began flying reconnaissance missions over Buldir until early February 1943. During early 1945, a small weather outpost manned by five U.S. Army soldiers was located on Buldir Island.
