Location Lat 22° 56' 9N Long 97° 44' 59E Lashio is located in Shan State in Burma (Myanmar). The Lasho Road connects northward and connects to the Ledo Road (Stilwell Road) that begins in Ledo in India and continues to the northeast across the southern border of China that terminates at Kunming. Wartime History On April 30, 1942 the Japanese Army captured Lashio and begin a move to drive the Chinese back along the old Burma Road in China and drive American and British forces back toward India. During February 1945, the MARS Task Force, a composite Chinese and American force, including the Chinese Army's 38th Division and 50th Division attacked the Lashio sector.
